Schools! Show Your Packers Spirit for a Chance at $10,000!
Schools are encouraged to show their Packers’ spirit on Friday, September 10 for their chance to win $10,000 and a visit from Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk. The Green Bay Packers, the NFL and the United Way are encouraging fans to show their Packers spirit with a “Back to Football Friday” as a way of supporting youth health and fitness.
Whether they’re planning a pep rally or wearing their favorite team jersey or shirt to school, fans can show their passion in any creative way and enter for the chance to win once-in-a-lifetime prizes from the NFL.
Schools can enter the “Back to Football Friday” contest at www.NFLRUSH.com/BackToFootball. They will be asked to submit photos of their “Back to Football Friday” event and answer brief essay questions for the chance to win a $10,000 NFL PLAY 60 grant for fitness equipment at their school and a visit from Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk this fall. Thirty-four winning schools will be selected as “NFL PLAY 60 Super Schools,” one in each of the 32 NFL markets, and two at-large winners. Through the contest, schools can cheer on their favorite teams, while supporting the health and wellness of children in their community.
FREE Safety Fair
The FREE “15th Annual Menomonee Falls Safety Fair” is Saturday, September 11 from 10am-4:30pm at the Menomonee Falls High School and will feature the local police, fire and emergency services departments, as well as a 9/11 remembrance ceremony.
The safety fair will feature more than 75 hands-on exhibits including demonstrations of a live burn of a 10x20 room, cutting a crashed car open and a demonstration of extinguishing a grill and stove fire. The Flight for Life helicopter will also land at the fair. Activities are available for all ages including stop, drop and roll clinics for kids, as well as Coldwell Banker gift bags and balloons.
All of the funds generated from food and beverage sales and the silent auction will be given to community education and fire and safety organizations.
Alzheimer's Association's Caregiver Support Group
If you are caring for someone with Alzheimer's attend a monthly meeting the 2nd Tuesday of each month. The meetings are held at St. Mark AME Church, 1616 W. Atkinson Avenue and begin at 6pm. For more information call 479-8800.

FREE Community Job & Resource Fair
You're invited to attend a "Fall Community & Resource Fair" on Saturday, September 18 from 11am-3pm at St. Mark AME Church, 16th & Atkinson. The fair will feature job training opportunities, driver's license recovery, healthcare awareness, financial education, housing, public safety and child support debt reduction help.
Workshops will be held on diabetes, setting up your own business, and foreclosure prevention. Attorneys will also be on hand to answer legal questions at no charge.
Fundraiser Celebration in Support of Pearls for Teen Girls
The African American Women's Club's 5th Annual fundraiser in support of Pearls for Teen Girls will be held Saturday, September 25 from 6pm-midnight at the Northwest Masonic Center, 4315 N. 92nd Street.

Support the Gift for Life Block Walk
The “Gift for Life Block Walk” needs volunteers to help deliver the message of breast health. The event will take place Saturday, October 16. To register call 745-7831 or visit www.sisters4cure.org.
During the “Gift for Life Block Walk,” breast cancer survivors are honored as they show the community hope, courage, strength and victory over breast cancer.
Volunteer survivors, including Sisters Network® Inc. members, are paired up with non survivor volunteer supporters to canvass a small assigned neighborhood area. Breast health and other materials are delivered door-to-door along with breast self awareness teaching along with an invitation to come to the MLK Center, 15th & Vliet, to learn and celebrate.
Everyone is invited back to the MLK Center for refreshments, entertainment, healthy living workshops, and vendors. Breast cancer survivors are treated to special “survivor suite” luncheon, fellowship and surprises.
This free breast cancer awareness month event provides timely culturally sensitive education to African American men and women. No cost / low cost mammography and other referral resources will be available.
Earn a Grant to Help Fight Childhood Obesity
There are new grants available to help young people fight childhood obesity. Schools and youth-focused, community center-based programs are eligible for UnitedHealth HEROES grants up to $1,000 to help children learn about childhood obesity and to design, address and implement programs that help fight it in their communities.
